an aftertaste of eternity title image

I write before the passing dregs of time
Drag from my mind my memories of you;
Before another’s features tame my eye,
Another’s hold my thoughts, as they are doomed to do;
Before the itching of necessity
Makes foolish feelings that were truly felt;
Before my reason damps my fantasy,
With flick of fingers makes my mirage melt;
To fix, like flower in crystal, so it never fades,
Your beauty as it was whilst it breathed me;
To give you, in the mirror of the page,
An aftertaste of our eternity.
I write this to remember feelings past,
Briefly, when love’s brief life breathes long its last.
